Kalugin Shaftless Stove System has been commissioned at KARDEMİR A.Ş. in Turkey
In January 2015 a new Blast Furnace of 1650 m3 capacity with Kalugin Shaftless Stove (KSS) System was commissioned and put into commercial operation at KARDEMİR A.Ş. in Karabük, Turkey.
Under the contract with the Turkish iron and steel works KALUGN’s engineers developed the basic engineering design and detail design documentation for Kalugin Shaftless Stove System consisting of three stoves as well as they implemented in the system a heat pipe heat exchanger which is an advanced type of the waste heat recovery system. In the course of project execution KALUGIN JSC supplied the required refractory items and materials and provided supervision over construction and commissioning of the stove system.
According to Marina Kalugina, KALUGIN’s General Director, this was the first project implemented by the company in Turkey. “Our Turkish partners have provided ideal conditions for joint work and showed the highest professionalism at all stages of project execution. As a result, as early as the end of February the Kalugin Shaftless Stove System can achieve the guaranteed design parameters – the hot blast temperature of 1250°C”, noted Marina Kalugina.
