Efficient cooperation between KALUGIN JSC and NLMK

Dmitry Sotnikov, Vice President for Investment Projects of PAO NLMK, has expressed gratitude to KALUGIN Company for cooperation, mentioning a professional approach, high quality of works performed and substantial contribution in implementation of Blast Furnace Plant No. 2 Project and reconstruction of Blast Furnace No. 6.
In November 2018 a large-scale reconstruction of Blast Furnace No. 6 was started at Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Works (NLMK). During this reconstruction a new stove system consisting of Kalugin Shaftless Stoves (KSS) was constructed.
According to the undertaken obligations, in conditions of different process constraints and a confined construction site, KALUGIN Company designed and constructed a new stove unit capable of operating at the temperature of 1350 °C. Moreover, the company performed supplies of materials and equipment and developed some specific engineering solutions due to which process pipelines with equipment, automation room, flue duct with gas heat pipe heat exchanger and combustion air plate-type heat exchanger, hot blast pipeline, discharge system and combustion air supply station equipment were implemented. All the construction and erection works were performed without interruption of blast furnace operation, which complicated execution of the above tasks.
According to Ms. Marina Kalugina, KALUGIN’s General Director, the company’s engineers managed to settle the most complicated technological tasks while developing NLMK’s project. Everyone was aimed at finding the most efficient technical solutions. Due to this approach, the works were performed within the period approved by the Customer. “It should be mentioned that the use of technologies developed by KALUGIN allows customers to perform reconstruction and commission reconstructed facilities on the planned date and without additional production costs, improve their operational parameters, increase hot metal output and significantly reduce environmental impact”, stated Marina Kalugina.
For reference:
The first NLMK’s project was performed by KALUGIN Company in 2011 at new Blast Furnace No. 7. As a part of that project, a stove unit consisting of three Kalugin Shaftless Stoves (KSS) was put in operation. These stoves enabled to significantly improve efficiency of blast furnace operation, which was much appreciated by NLMK’s blast-furnace operators.
