Startup! Kalugin Shaftless Stoves have been put into operation in China
On 3rd December 2020, Blast Furnace No.5 of 2580 m3 capacity with Kalugin Shaftless Stoves (KSS) has been put into operation at iron and steel works of Benxi Steel Group Corporation (Benxi, China).
Under the contract KALUGIN’s engineers have developed Basic and Detail Design engineering documentation required for construction of the stove unit consisting of four Kalugin Shaftless Stoves.
According to Ms. Marina Kalugina, KALUGIN’s General Director, the company had to perform design engineering, construction and commissioning of the stoves in conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic with the borders between Russia and China being closed. For this reason, our engineers were not able to work directly at the construction site during stove erection and participate in stove commissioning. The complicated situation required new approaches to settle production challenges with work being performed in online environments. “We can say that now our company is prepared to execute projects of any level of complexity anywhere in the world using advanced digital technologies. As for the stoves of Benxi Steel Group Corporation, they will be in trial operation for three months and then we will check their technical capacity to achieve the guarantee performance parameters”, announced Ms. Kalugina.
